2024-09-23
Nilfgaard’s quest for
dominance isn’t the only thing growing on the Continent. The Witcher universe
is getting a little bigger in 2024 with the upcoming animated film The Witcher:
Sirens of the Deep.

Fans got a new look at the
new movie during Geeked Week 2024, courtesy of Doug Cockle, who voices
sword-swinging hero Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher video game series and The
Witcher: Sirens of the Deep. The actor recorded a special message for fans introducing
a clip from the movie that shows Geralt and Jaskier (Joey Batey) having a deep
conversation around a campfire — and reveals the film’s premiere date.
“That’s right! Very soon Geralt is going
to be back in action battling not only man and monsters, but also mer-people,”
says Cockle in the video above.
As Sirens of the Deep bursts
toward the surface, you’ll probably have a few questions. Keep reading for all
the wisdom on the movie’s plot, premiere date, cast, and more.
When does The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep premiere?
The Witcher: Sirens of the

What is The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep about?
Prepare to take a trip deeper
into the Continent. As explained during Geeked Week, The Witcher: Sirens of the
Deep is an animated film based on one of the original Witcher stories.
Geralt of Rivia, a mutated
monster hunter, is hired to investigate a series of attacks in a seaside
village and finds himself drawn into a centuries-old conflict between humans
and merpeople. He must count on friends — old and
new — to solve the mystery
before the hostilities between the two kingdoms escalate into an all-out war.

Who stars in The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep?
The Witcher 3 voice actor
Cockle will take another swing at Geralt in Sirens of the Deep. “I am super
excited to announce my return to the world of The Witcher voicing Geralt of
Rivia once again,” Cockle told Netflix. “I’m thrilled to be able to share this
next chapter of the White Wolf’s journey with fans of the Witcher universe.
Mire taedh aen stráede!”
Batey isn’t the only actor
from The Witcher series lending their voice to the movie. Anya Chalotra also
reprises the role of Yennefer of Vengerberg in the animated feature. The
Witcher universe newcomer Christina Wren will voice new character Essi Daven.
When does The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep take place?
The film is set between
Episodes 5 and 6 of The Witcher Season 1. So it’s time to brush up on all that
was happening on the Continent back then!
What is The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep based on?
The Witcher universe is
inspired by the series of books by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. Sirens of
the Deep is specifically based on his short story “A Little Sacrifice.”
Who made The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep?
The film is written by The
Witcher series writers Mike Ostrowski and Rae Benjamin and produced by The
Witcher showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich. Author Sapkowski serves as the
creative consultant.
Kang Hei Chul, who served as
a storyboard artist on The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, is the flick’s
director. Speaking of that previous The Witcher animated feature, The Witcher:
Sirens of the Deep comes from South Korean animation studio Studio MIR, who was
also behind Nightmare of the Wolf, as well as The Legend of Korra and Voltron:
Legendary Defender.
Can I see the Witcher: Sirens of the Deep teaser?
As sure as Geralt can take on
a bruxa, you can see this video. The teaser shows an animated Geralt,
surrounded by storms and smoke. “The humans aren’t looking for truth,” he says.
“It’s no longer about sustenance. It’s about greed.” Who is the gluttonous
group Geralt’s talking about? Well, you’ll have to watch Sirens of the Deep to
find out.
